Day 71 Hyder and Stewart

Well this highway has not let us down on waterways and mountains.  The road for the most part has been good. A little construction and few potholes but we have been on worse.  We decided on one more detour that will take us back into Alaska. A very small town called Hyder. It is right next to Stewart Canada. Both are tiny towns thst saw their boom in early 1900. We came hoping to see salmon running but its still early only two had been up creek today. Here are todays pics.  One thing I did learn today 98% of jade in the world is mined here in the Cassiar mountains. Also, a lot of first nation villages are a in this area.  Here are todays pics. I know the last couple days post arent great, trying to get posted while have wifi!

Heading back to Cassiar highway tomorrow to head south to Prince George. We will be at least 2 days getting there. Prince George is a large city, so hopefully we will find wifi and get in some supplies.
