Day 58 Goodbye Valdez

A great day to travel, we have the sun out and after a laid back last couple days we are rested and ready, except now Gene and MJ are fighting colds.  We are just not use to this rain forest climate!  We will be traveling the same road we came in on, but since it was not real clear on the trip in we are anxious to see the sights. One sight especially is the Worthington Glacier, we stopped and took pictures from the road but was afraid to take our camper up to the actual  park sight because we weren't sure it could accommodate us. We learned it had a pull thru parking lot so we headed up to get a closer view. We have made several trips and hiked several times to try to actually lay hands on a glacier.  Not expecting any chance again we were excited when we saw people walking up a trail and some actually high on the glacier. Although signs everywhere said not to venture to glacier it did appear  reasonably safe and a decent hike for us older folks. So off we went up the rocky path. We did it!!!  We finally got to touch it and see the deep crevices.  Wow, how exciting to touch ice that has been buried 1000s of feet for thousands of years!    We finally got back on the road after our detour and actually still made our goal of halfway to chicken. We lucked up and found a beautiful pulloff that overlooked three lakes and beautiful mountains as the backdrop. What a pleasant dinner we had looking out our kitchen window watching a moose swim!  Some other folks pulled in to spend the night who were from Alaska and gave us some history about the area. Here are todays pictures. On to Chicken tomorrow!
As we were leaving Valdez there was construction on the road, the flag lady had brought her dog to work with her!  They are so laid back up here and everyone is very friendly and happy to answer your questions.

Our spot we stayed in overnight on side of road. So pretty.

Same spot as above just caught the sun hitting top of mountains about 11 pm
