Day 11 Wyoming

The first good weather day in several days made for a great travel day. We left SD and headed west into Wyoming. The ride thru the last of the Black Hills had beautiful scenery.  Sadly a beetle is destroying much of their evergreen forest.  Thousands of trees have fallen and left bare hillsides. The terrain really started to open up once we got into Wyoming. There is vast areas of very little human population, but wildlife is abundant. After passing thru Gillette, Wy we topped a hill to see majestic snow capped mountains. What a sight to see!   Near Gillette we also saw a coal mining operation that was like none I had ever seen. The seam of coal was 30 to 40 feet and was barely under the surface. It was dug and belted under the interstate to a proccessing plant. Glad there are still some coal miners working. After the drive we found a campsite right on Lake DeSmet Potts Landing. It is a great place to spent the night, lake in front, snow capped montains behind us.   On to Montana tomorrow. Here are today's pics.
