We went to the Alaska Sealife Center today. It was built as a result of the Exxon Valdez oil spill back in the late 1980's. It is a great place to see and learn about marine life. They also do recovery and rehab of marine life to prepare it for return to wild. It is a very well done facility, with huge tanks to view everything. It was all pretty coo but my favorite is the puffer birds, which we also saw on cruise. These birds also swim, not just on top of water but deeply like hundreds of feet. It is the only bird that can do this feat. They had it so you could watch them fly then go downstairs and watch them under deep water. Too coo!!! This afternoon walked back into town to take last pics before heading out tomorrow. By the way we had a couple more small world moments. I mentioned I talked to someone from my home area well late yesterday a couple stopped by that wete from Williamsburg but lots of family from Clay Co, Gene even believed there were his distant kin. At the Sealife center numerous passengers from a cruise ship were there and Carvel saw a UK hat on a man and ask him where he was from. Are you ready.....London, after a conversation with him he was pastor at a church and his son went to school with Carvel. We have also seen others but not from our area. Here are todays pics. Plan on leaving tomorrow but high wind warnings may ground us.
