This is our first RV camping experience to the great southwestern part of the US. After months of planning and preparing I am still feeling a little overwhelmed. So far it has been a easy and fun trip. We left home a day later than we planned due to some unforeseen dental work that was required before we could depart. It actually worked out leaving a day late because of the weather in the direction we were heading. The Midwest was receiving record breaking rains that were causing flooding even to the major interstates. I-40 was actually shut down in several places for hundreds of miles so it worked out much better leaving a day late.
We left on Tuesday, December 29, traveling to Somerset to get on the Cumberland Parkway to Bowling Green. From there we went south to Clarksville, TN. We called ahead to get a site at the Paris Landing State Park near the town of Buchanan. This park is located on the area known as the Lands Between the Lakes. It was dark when we got to the park, unfortunately not being able to see the beautiful waterways as we crossed them. Look forward to returning to the area someday to see what we missed.
A note on Paris Landing State Park, it was a nice clean older park, luckily we were the only campers there and the ranger let us use one of the ADA sites which was concrete and longer and near the restrooms. We didn't even have to unhook which was a great help. The campground had lots of trees and tight sites which appeared to be very unlevel. It was made for much smaller campers and tents, but nice area and everyone was friendly.
Oh yeah, I must mention someone just had to have a milkshake before calling it a night.
