Day 47

Beautiful hot day here in Cottonwood, Carvel got up early and worked on camper so i got in a quick bike ride around the park. Dead Horse State Park is really nice and actually wish we had a few more days here, but they are full for weekend so we will head on tomorrow. We had a few local spots we wanted to see before we left so off we went. First stop was Tuzigoot National Historic site. Another habitat of ancient natives. Really enjoyed being able to walk to it and see actual rooms up close.

After leaving Tuzigoot, we headed into the town of Jerome, a once booming gold and copper mining town. It is located at elevation over 5000 feet. We loved this old hillside town, houses and businesses were scattered on ever edge. We could not believe how crowded this small town was. Several restaurants, shops, art galleries and bars were in the town.  The view from about any spot was amazing. There was also a beautiful inn high upon the mountain. Sure glad we didn't miss this one and wish we had more time to walk around. Carvel got much better pictures than I did, but here are a few.

On our way down the mountain we stopped in at another town and enjoyed dinner in a local spot. A fun busy day and now on to Williams tomorrow for the weekend. I have to wish a early Happy Birthday to my sweetheart, he hits the big 6-0 tomorrow!  Looking forward to a fun weekend together.
